The Gifted and Talented/AIG Basics program recognizes that every child has gifts and talents to be discovered and enhanced. Our mission is to challenge all children intellectually, engage them in rich learning experiences, and nurture their individual gifts and talents. Our gardening electives provide students with the opportunity to explore how people, animals and plants connect in our school community. Through our gardening courses, students design innovative garden spaces, study the essentials of plant life and growth, and connect to the greater community by donating their harvest.

Our vision is for Poe students to become lifelong learners, while growing and excelling in academic achievement, attaining physical and emotional well-being, and exploring artistic expression. This vision is seen in the public art banners created by our fourth and fifth grade students. Our students took the words from our school’s vision, created drawings, and produced banners on a larger scale that represents our vision for our school community.
