WCPSS bus driver finishes second in state bus roadeo

WCPSS bus driver Billy McKemey finished in second place at the annual State School Bus Roadeo held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. McKemey earned a $400 cash prize for his second place finish.

McKemey earned the chance to compete in the state finals by winning first place at both the District III and Wake County Bus Roadeos. McKemey is a driver in the WCPSS Holly Springs Transportation District. Continue Reading . . .

Wake County bus drivers compete in State Bus Driver Roadeo

Four bus drivers from the Wake County Public School System will be among the 43 drivers competing in the state school bus competition Friday at the State Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Billy McKemey won first place at both the District III and Wake County Bus Roadeos. McKemey is a driver in the WCPSS Holly Springs Transportation District. Matthew Monk of Apex, Stephanie High of Millbrook and Pete Alicea-Rivera of Millbrook earned the chance to compete at the state based on their success at the district and county roadeos.

The school bus drivers will participate in a driving competition to crown the top school bus driver in North Carolina.  The winner will receive a cash prize and a trip to represent North Carolina in the national school bus driving competition this summer in Charleston, S.C.

Bus drivers compete in Wake County roadeo

Bus drivers for the Wake County Public School System took part in the Wake County bus roadeo. Drivers polished their skills while getting a chance to see friends from other WCPSS Transportation districts. Winners at the Wake County level advance to a regional competition.

Wake sends 10 drivers to District Bus Roadeo
