Joyner Hosts Science Go Round

Students at Joyner Magnet Elementary took part in their annual Science Go Round, a day long program that immerses students in science experiments and presentations led by scientists from all over the Southeast.  Students were involved in paper making, solar energy demonstrations, robotics, aeronautics, food science, CSI experiments, and a host of other activities.  The highlight of the day was a visit from Dan Breeding, better known as “Dan the Animal Man.”

“This was an amazing day for our students and our whole school family,” said Chris Knott, the principal at Joyner.  “I have a lot of parents who are going to be researching chicken farming and solar panels for their homes tomorrow and that’s what this day is all about; creating a natural love for science and inquiry.”

Dan Breeding pets the snake he’s recruited teachers to display to the students.

Students got a chance to see chickens that Principal Knott says may get families interested in researching poultry operations.
