Sanderson Percussionist to March in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Tune into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this Thursday on NBC at 9 a.m. to see Sanderson High School student Brandon Fernandez marching with the Macy’s All American Marching Band.

Brandon, a senior, will be one of four students playing the tenor drums (the kind that wrap around the body) in the band’s drumline. He says that he is one of the shorter kids, so he should be easy to pick out. The Macy’s All American Marching Band will be the first band, leading off the parade. Band members will be wearing red, white and blue uniforms.

Brandon auditioned for a spot in the band last March. The band accepts four musicians, one dancer and one guard member from each state in the United States to form this special marching band. Brandon joins other North Carolina students from Lumberton High, North Lincoln High, Brevard High and Forestview High.
